A Review: Bushman Sings the Bush Doctor - A Tribute to Peter Tosh

Just wanted to do a quick review of this album for all you reggae heads.

I grew up listening to Peter Tosh.  I remember copying tapes, that's right - I dated myself, of his from my brother's collection.  I was hooked and I can honestly say The Bush Doctor is my first reggae experience.

Last year when anticipating the ROTOTOM festival, I came across an artist who was headlining..... BUSHMAN.  This guy really has the chops.  His own music is fantastic and he became an instant favorite of mine.  What more can I ask for???? an Album from a new favorite covering an old gem.

I have to say I am very happy with the way things turned out.  Bushman nails the classic Tosh sound yet elevates a lot of the tunes with better studio recording.  I feel that Bushman has the classic reggae entertainers voice, the golden vocals that really resonate in the Tosh's songs.

Some songs fall flat like Equal Rights, the original was sung with heart and soul this one just feels monotone.  Mama Africa ft. Buju also just seems to far off the original to be part of this album.  Everything else really fits well in place and adds to a great album experience with good progression and easy listening.

Some of my personal picks from this album is...

Johnny B. Goode
